👩🏻💻 Collaboration of Forró list initiatives - less djungle of event lists by working together
1) 🤌SUMMARY: *Have Forró event listing individuals get to know each other, to give them a chance to distribute efforts and/or find sweet spots for collaboration or merging and thus creating better & reliable overview. 2) 🗯️DETAILED IDEA: *CONTEXT:* There are several individuals in Europe who started to curate lists of Forró festivals or events. Currently we are aware of 5 simple festival lists plus two major development projects with focus on Forró. Each offer has it´s advantages and disadvantages (simplicity, completeness, reliability, findability on the internet etc.). Some lists "die out" after a while as they depend on individuals´ efforts. Nonetheless we assume they share a common goal to create an overview for forrozeiros as complete and reliable as possible. *WHAT is the objective?* - Get to more consistent service for dancers and professionals - Avoid double work / Unite the good intentions of Forró listing iniatiatives and bring individuals together - for better service with less work for the individual - Generally fuel the idea of cross-national collaboration in the Forró scene *Steps:* - Identify & approach individuals who are curating online lists or services - arrange a meeting to exchange on each one´s intentions and vision - find out together if and how to collaborate - follow-up in case support is needed in moderation or emerging projects 3) ℹ️*NOTES / WHAT HAPPENS IF THIS IDEA GETS UPVOTED* The outcome of this initiative cannot be foreseen, as it will depend on the individuals ideas and motivation if and how they want to work together. It could lead to a merging of lists, could lead to forming teams, could be working together for better APIs, could be anything else. It is part of this proposal to discover the opportunities for collaboration by getting to know each ones intentions and each ones struggles to achieve their intentions.

over 1 year agoI think a common event list is one of the most important things to do in forró now, both to don't throw away energy and to maximise the promotion of this culture thst is still less known by the majority of the people
Forró Federation
over 1 year ago@Debora Zamillo don't forget to vote in the top left if you want this to happen
Ciarán Carroll
over 1 year agoI would gladly participate in this
Leonie Schmidtmer
over 1 year agohave you reached out to these 5 to see if they would be interested in collaboration? Maybe some of them are not interested because they want to keep their tool for themselves
Daniel Rolfs
over 1 year ago@Leonie Schmidtmer then they would exclude themselves of being actively promoted by the federation
Forró Federation
over 1 year ago@Leonie Schmidtmer Hi Leonie, this question is what the proposal is about - to reach out and then do our best to faciliate collaboration. As described in the details: "The outcome of this initiative cannot be foreseen, as it will depend on the individuals ideas and motivation if and how they want to work together." Since this is some rather bigger effort if well-done and well-approached, it is put as a proposal here = to see if there is even enough interest, before taking up that initiative. Thank you for asking.

over 1 year agoVery relevant project. Right now it's still quite difficult to find information about some regions.
Daniel Rolfs
over 1 year agoOnce event lists offer an open APIs with theire event data the federation should actively promote these platforms, so we finally are able to find app Forro events easily.
Andreas Mayer
over 1 year agowould be very useful to have a most possible complete overview of events
Constanze Heinzen
over 1 year agoThat would be extremely helpful. Right now it is difficult to notify all publishers about events when you organize an event really time consuming
Anna Carlsson
over 1 year agoI think this would be a great idea. I am a student enthusiast in London (so not a teacher/event organiser) but felt the need for a listing (outside what already exists on WhatsApp/Facebook/Instagram) when I started dancing forró. I have therefore created a basic one for London as a blog (https://wp.me/p41QJv-3u) but don't think the technology is working well.

over 1 year ago@Anna Carlsson thanks for your comment. Why don't we arrange a call with yourself and members of the board. This initiative is going forward and we would love to learn about your experience, and to share some ideas we have to solve this problem for forró.
